More than 200 education leaders met the week of October 11 to 13, 2017 to learn about issues that faith-based schools face while hearing methods that informed their school improvement efforts. The conference provided a demanding schedule of professional learning coupled with time for reflection, connections and fellowship. The 2017 conference was held at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island. Conference programming was tailored to the unique needs of leaders serving in faith-based school communities.

Conference Information

Thank you to our Keynote Speaker, Nathan Siebenga

Siebenga

Mr. Siebenga is the Principal of Hamilton District Christian School (HDCH) in Ontario. In his current capacity he leads HDCH toward the vision of helping students design, develop and deploy beautiful, purposeful work. Mr. Siebenga’s talk will follow a screening of the 2016 film of the same name. Join your colleagues in exploring this all too familiar space of being terrified and courageous in a Christian school setting and be prepared to share your own story too.

Those who know Nathan describe him as ‘Edupreneurial’; a visionary who executes and delivers. He wears his heart on his sleeve and clearly loves leadership. Nathan was born and raised in Bowmanville Ontario, as the fourth child in an education family. He grew up watching good schools become great. As it was then ‘school’ continues to be his life. Now as a Principal of Hamilton District Christian High School (HDCH), he seems to have become fully engaged in the family business. Nathan desires to see students design, develop and deploy beautiful, purposeful work and loves leading HDCH towards this vision. As a Principal, he is committed to making a difference in his small corner of the world so that the graduates of HDCH can have an enormous impact wherever they land. A number of years ago he married his best friend, and together they have fun raising their five children.
