Mr. Russell will describe how to create effective Behavioral Management Teams in your school to comply with recently enacted state laws
Title Funding and Ombudsman Update – Chanel DeGuzman, Ph.D., Equitable Services Ombudsman, Michigan Department of Education
State ombudsman Chanel Deguzman will address important topics as you prepare for meaningful consultation meetings this spring including: Roles of Nonpublic schools and LEAs, Nonpublic schools/LEA Partnerships, Carryover and Obligation periods, Review of Teacher Certification: State and Federal Regulations, and Common Pitfalls
Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) – Greg Brock, Senior Advisor, Invest in Education Coalition.
Invest in Education Policy Advisor Greg Brock will present on an exciting new opportunity that is working its way through Congress – an initiative that would allow for federal tax credits for donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations. This is a real opportunity to expand choice in the state of Michigan.
Afternoon:
Each participant will be scheduled for team visits with their legislative delegation. Participants will be provided talking points to discuss during their appointments.
After your appointment is over, reconvene at Heritage Hall to debrief on your legislative visit.
NOTE: The easiest way to access Heritage Hall is by entering the building on Ottawa Street. Ottawa Street runs on the north side of the entire State Capitol Complex.
