The Michigan Association of Non-public Schools was founded in 1972 as an association of Catholic Schools of the seven dioceses of Michigan, the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and District Two of Christian Schools International.
Full membership is granted to schools that are affiliated with one of the three founding constituencies (Catholic, Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and Christian Schools International). In February 2008, full membership was granted to the Association of Christian Schools International in Michigan.
Associate membership may be granted by the Board of Trustees to schools who have successfully completed an application with supporting documentation of compliance. The Executive Committee reviews materials and makes a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. Associate membership entitles the school to communications regarding issues affecting non-public schools, discounted fees for conferences, and other materials or special seminars/workshops that are made available to full membership schools.
